"Yes." Firststar replied, looking at his son worriedly.

Stonestep looked at his brother, as if he could see through him, and then swatted at him, growling. Stonestep then got up and ran away, stone following whereever he stepped.

Heavystep growled and stomped on the ground, causing an earthquake.

"Enough, brother. I wanna be left alone before the Gathering." Stonestep hissed.

~Someones being touchy ~

"What's your problem?" Heavystep growled angrily, the earth shaking as if his anger scared it. "Heavystep, calm down." Firststar demanded.

"Everything is wrong! None of you understand." Stonestep whispered, then turned and left.

Firststar sighed and easily caught up to Stonestep with his super speed. "What do you mean, son?" he asked.

"Nothing, Firststar." Stonestep mewed.

"Why is everything wrong?" Firststar asked gently. Silverleaf appeared, beautiful flowers and ferns sprouting where she stepped. "Firststar, I'll talk to him, go calm Heavystep down before he creates another earthquake." she mewed. Firststar nodded reluctantly. When Firststar was gone, Silverleaf sat and looked expectantly at Stonestep.

Stonestep looked at Silverleaf and didnt know what to say.

"Wanna tell me what's wrong? You seem...stressed. Disagreeable?" Silverleaf tried again. She looked up at Stonestep from the fragrant rose she was creating.

"Its my mother. Why did she have to die?!" Stonestep wailed, he tried to hide the wail but he couldnt hold it in any longer.

Silverleaf stood and padded closer to Stonestep until ther were touching noses. "StarClan needed her. She is safe now and watching over you. Firststar misses her a lot you know. I'v heard him sobbing in his den." Silverleaf mewed. "He thinks I...um, some cat can fix the hurt you feel." she continued, hoping he didn't notice her slip in words.

Stonestep pricked his ears at Silverleaf's mess up in words. "I know he misses er too, but....." When Stonestep looked into Silverleaf's eyes, his own eyes filled with grief.

Silverleaf sighed. "I've never told any cat this before, but my parents killed eachother fighting over me. I was so sad that I tried to eat a death berry to kill myself. Then Firststar saved me and gave me the gift of making life. To this day, I am still sad about it, but making things grow and come back to life halps me feel complete. Find something or some cat that does that for you."

"I try but I know I will get hurt more after what everyone saw just now." Stonestep mewed, sadly.

"You're deputy now. You will get new powers soon." Silverleaf reminded him, backing away and looking at her paws. Tears filled her eyes as she thought He'll never take the hint, will he?

"I have my new powers." Stonestep mewed, then he saw the tears in Silverleaf's eyes. "Thank you, Silverleaf." He padded forward and pressed his large muzzle into hers.

Silverleaf smiled. "What're your new powers?" asked curiously.

"Invinsibility and shapeshifting." Stonestep said flatly. Stonestep looked at Silverleaf and mewed, "I dont think I can fill the hole in my heart with these powers."

"Guess you'll have to look for a cat then." Silverleaf replied seriously.

"I guess so. But I dont know who." Stonestep mewed, staring straight into Silverleaf's eyes.
